Is Your Message Consistent?

Consistency Across The Web

Like most businesses these days, you’ve probably got profiles on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Yelp, Google Places, and others.

While it’s important to have a presence in all those places, what I commonly find is inconsistency across those profiles. I see many businesses with missing or incomplete profile information, or different information all together. It’s important to have a consistent message across all your profiles, and keep up with them. Even if you don’t use them on a daily, weekly or regular basis, you should cycle back through them every now and then and make sure they are completely filled out, with the right information.

Keep Track

You should keep track of the profiles you do have, and the last time you made changes to them. It’s very easy to forget which sites you’ve signed up for, and where you are listed. You never know when a potential customer will stumble upon one of those profiles. If it’s incomplete or has bad information, you might lose potential business. So keep track a list of where you’re listed, a spreadsheet will do.

What Should Your Profile Have?

At the very least, make sure your profiles have your business name, address, phone number, website URL, logo and a brief description of your business. Some allow you to have videos, connect them with other social profiles (so they’re all connected).
